Because your ego will not be going anywhere else any time soon, feeling elimination is not possible. This means you need to manage feelings."

An Interactive Web-based Resource

What is it -

The purpose of this resource is to assist the user in managing the stress of painful emotions. In the book, Why Good People Make Bad Choices, the reader is encouraged to simplify the experience of feeling:

“In order to make optimal use of the problem solving strategies in the next five chapters, it will be helpful to simplify your feeling experiences. That is, conceptualize your feelings as having roots in one of five physiological points of origin: anger, sadness, guilt, fear, or gladness.”       page 119,  WGPMBC

As a result, this resource* is divided into four different modules, each one aimed at guiding the user to manage the stress of anger (MAD), sadness (SAD), guilt (BAD), and fears/worry (FEAR).

How does it work -

Each module will help the reader to 1) identify or confirm a targeted feeling, 2) give information about the feeling, 3) provide a cognitive challenge, and 4) suggest either external resolutions or internal resolutions.

The first time you use a feeling module, it is recommended that you go through each of the module steps.

One of the module steps is called the "Cognitve Challenge". Cognitive Challenge questions are meant to help to clarify your approach to emotional problem solving and it is recommended that you attempt to use them.  However, it is okay to skip directly to the resolutions if you get stuck, or the questions become too burdensome.

As a resource, The New Science of Stress Management© is designed to be used on an as needed basis.  That is, whenever you are feeling the stress of emotional pain, you can go to the resource to better understand what you are experiencing, and then look for potential resolutions. It is important the bear in mind that some of the resolutions may not be a fit for the particular emotional problem you are facing. In that case, keep reading until you find a resolution that does fit.
